Amelia & Tom’s ‘At Home’ Wedding With Clear Roof Marquee & Moroccan Lounge

Tom and I met on Tinder. We both enjoy travelling and hiking! He proposed on my birthday in a Moroccan restaurant in Cambridge. It was very romantic and yes, he went down on one knee!  Personally I found the planning of our wedding rather easy. My very organised mum wanted to be very much involved! All our suppliers were easy to work with too. I decided to use local suppliers as much as possible and most of them came through recommendations.  I had always wanted to make the most of my parent’s garden so we had a clear roof marquee and a Moroccan chill out area.  Being at my parents house made the day even more special and personal.

My day began with a glass of Buck’s Fizz. I’d recommend anyone to pace themselves on the alcohol front! My maid of honour stayed with me the night before and she was amazing at calming me down. She played the ‘Mama Mia’ soundtrack on repeat!

I tried on nearly twenty dresses before choosing ‘the one’! I chose a 70’s inspired Sassi Holford dress called ‘Constance’ which was in the new collection at the time. My dad seeing me in my dress was one of the most memorable moments of the day. That and walking down the aisle to meet Tom and of course our Rod Stewart tribute act!

Tom wore a navy Ted Baker suit with a classic green cravat. My bridesmaids wore a similar lace to my dress in a pretty, bright, coral colour with blush shoes. I wanted to keep our style relaxed so I chose the amazing Quintessentially Wild; a local business with a unique style of floristry I’d never seen before. The flowers really made the day incredible.

For our reception we wanted our food and drink choices to be informal and relaxed. There was lots of Two Birds gin. And I mean lots! The bar staff had to restock halfway through the night. We served plenty of wine too. Tom and I chose mixed paella as our main course with stuffed peppers, breads and salads. The atmosphere was quite informal, just how we wanted it and the funniest part of the whole day was definitely the speeches.

We chose a semi naked cake with dark fruits from the Wistow Cafe. It was so delicious! I designed our stationery of course and paired it up as favours. Little rustic frames with a black and white photo of each guest. It took forever for 171 day guests but they did make for a great talking point.

(The bespoke place card favours are available from Amelia’s own collection of wedding stationery at Millie Stone UK. You can visit her website for invites, signage & unique style ideas. www.millie-stone.co.uk)

Tom and I kicked off the evening, dancing to ‘Shipping Up To Boston’ by  Dropkick Murphys. After our wonderful day we left to honeymoon in Antibes.
