Most couples say finding unique wedding ideas is really important. Searching for the latest wedding trends is often the first thing they do. Trends can be fun but they aren’t truly unique because everyone is doing them!
To be truly unique look closer to home.
Simply following a trend doesn’t make your wedding unique. The ‘unique’ happens when you inject your own personalities.
No other couple is quite like you. Your love story is unique, so this is where you begin.
Identify the romantic, fun, cute and even humorous or annoying habits which make you click. How did you meet; where; what do you have in common; when did you know they were ‘the one’?
How would your friends describe you both? What don’t they know about you?
Incorporate ideas into favours, colour schemes or signature drinks. Table names and invitations are an easy way to weave your unique personal story into the day.

Where do you find unique wedding ideas?
Some couples know exactly what they want for their wedding. Other couples haven’t a clue where to begin. Understanding the cost of things is also difficult when you’ve never ordered large cakes or photographers before.
Couples with a clear vision don’t necessarily know how to make it happen.
A great place to start is searching wedding blogs. I’m delighted you’ve found mine! Social media, Pinterest and printed magazines (if you can find any) are packed with ideas.
Quick list of unique wedding ideas to work into your day
Make the little details all about you
- Add the flowers from the first bunch your partner bought you to your stationery design.
- Important locations are popular for table names e.g. where you met, proposed, first kiss.
- Add a map of your honeymoon destination to your table plan.
- Include your furry family members onto your wedding cake.
- What reminds you of loved ones no longer with you? Incorporate their favourite flower, sweets, song or something that comes to mind to make their memory part of your day.
- Choose your favourite cocktail as a signature drink or treat yourselves at your drinks reception.
- Can your chef work your favourite date night meal into your menu or evening buffet?
- Fun wedding favours are a great way to make a nod to your hobbies or careers.
Too much inspiration can be overwhelming.
Have fun with it but don’t get obsessed. You don’t need to go mad. Less is often more when it comes to choosing the finer details.
Having a theme is helpful but don’t tie yourself to it. Suddenly your house will be under siege by theme-relevant bits and bobs.
Keep a tight reign on your spending. Be strict with yourself. Twenty pounds here and ten pounds there will dwindle your budget very quickly. Make a note of every little thing you buy on your spreadsheet, even if it’s five pounds.
Work in a couple of unique details but don’t go mad!

Your wedding day is not about impressing anyone. It’s a celebration of your marriage.
Planning a wedding, however stressful should be fun. At the end of the day your guests are there to celebrate your marriage. They want the best for you so don’t sweat the small stuff. No one wants to see you going in to debt just to be entertained for a few hours.
Don’t force themes or ideas into being. Work with what your venue already offers in terms of the atmosphere and aesthetics.
Free yourself from the need to follow trends. They’re not essential and neither is making your wedding ultra unique. It will be unique in it’s own personal way by the very dynamic of people in attendance.
Your wedding day is not about impressing anyone. Let go of that expectation. Your family and friends don’t need gimmicks to love you and celebrate with you.
Only add unique ideas to your wedding if they mean something to you. Do your day your way.
Nothing you plan can ever be more unique than the two of you.
