Rebecca & Daniel at Hawkstone Hall, Shropshire

Champagne tower, limoncello shots and singing waiters for Rebecca and Daniel’s wedding at Hawkstone Hall.

Photographed by Laura Jayne Photographer this wedding was a truly glamorous affair.

“Mr & Mrs Rose’s wedding day was a beautiful combination of editorial chic and understated glamour with black tuxedos and Rebecca’s fiery red hair.” said Laura. “Her flowers, also a fitting tribute to her new surname. The day was personable throughout, with a good friend signing their ceremony, speeches and even the lyrics to the singing waiters so that Danny’s deaf parents were able to be fully submersed in the day. They also had family and good friends playing music throughout the day, from keys during the ceremony to a full band to get the party started in the evening reception.”

Rebecca and Daniel tell us more about their special day.

Tell us why you chose your venue? Hawkstone Hall was actually only the second venue we visited and from the moment we pulled on the driveway we couldn’t stop smiling at each other. We walked into the chapel and it reduced Rebecca to tears so we asked to talk dates there and then. Holly and the team at Hawkstone made the whole process so enjoyable and they took so much of the stress out of it for us which was a real bonus. We couldn’t recommend them enough. So many of our guests commented on how it was like walking into something from a fairytale.

Tell us more about what inspired your vibe/theme ?
We wanted a theme in keeping with the decadence of the venue so we kept it classic and elegant. Hawkstone is full of beautiful rooms with gilded ceilings so we had champagne gold accents throughout our decor to compliment the style. Our surname is Rose so it seemed only right to have white roses included in all of our floral arrangements too.

How did you manage your guest list?
Navigating the politics of invitations was actually one of the hardest parts of the planning. You’re in a constant battle trying to please everyone but at the end of the day you want to surround yourselves with the people who make you smile. We had 80 day guests and a further 45 evening guests which ended up being perfect.

How did you start off your wedding day?
Danny – I spent the morning at a nearby bistro having breakfast with my best men before heading to the man cave at Hawkstone to play pool and relax before the ceremony.

Rebecca – Myself, my bridesmaids and mother Debbie spent the night before and morning of the wedding in the beautiful Bronte suite at Hawkstone. It’s pink walls and chandeliers really make you feel like a princess. We had a party playlist on while we danced around and got ready for the day.

What food did you choose?
We had an amazing wedding breakfast which consisted of pate, beef wellington and a cheesecake designed to look like an apple. Then for our evening food we had a fish and chips station which went down a treat with all the guests!

How did the speeches go?
They went amazingly well. Danny’s groom speech had everyone in tears whereas the father of the bride and best men speeches had everyone in stitches so all of the emotional bases were covered.

What cake, if any, did you choose?
We had a beautiful three tiered cake which was decorated with fresh flowers and ribbon to match our colour scheme. We chose white chocolate and raspberry for the largest tier, salted caramel for the middle and lemon poppyseed for the top. It worked really well as there was something for everyone.

How did you include personal details?
We had personalised cookies made for each of our guests which had our names and the date on, they were a big hit and tasted amazing. We also had a shot of Limoncello for everyone with an engraved gold tag on.

What was your ‘first dance’ music and why?
We chose ‘Feels Like Home’ by Theo Tams as it’s a song we both love and the lyrics are so beautiful. It was made all the more special as Rebecca’s brother Josh and sister in law Connie performed it for us.

Do you have any money saving tips?
If you see something you like but it’s out of budget try designing it yourself. I originally saw ‘order of the day’ confetti packets from a supplier but they were around £5 each so I found an online store and submitted my own design in the same style and it brought the cost down to just under £1 each for more or less the exact same product.

Did you stick to your budget?
We didn’t actually set a strict budget but we did go over our estimates. I think we both agree that it was worth every penny and we don’t regret spending the money that we did. You can’t put a price on those kind of memories.

Did you go on honeymoon and where?
We had an incredible honeymoon in Singapore and Bali straight after the wedding which gave us much needed time to unwind and reflect on our big day.

Your suppliers – who would you like to mention?
Our incredible photographer Laura Jayne, she really made us feel at ease throughout the whole day and our wedding gallery is pure magic. We can’t thank her enough and would recommend her to everyone. We chose ‘Rouge Entertainment’ as our wedding band and couldn’t recommend them enough. The dance floor was full all evening and they really got involved with the crowd. We also have to mention David Lawrence and his singing waiters. They served our guests throughout the first half of our wedding breakfast then surprised everyone by breaking into song. Everyone was up on their feet singing and dancing and it was a fantastic way to start the party. So much so we were all late to the evening reception.

What’s your happiest memory from the day?
The whole day really was magical from start to finish but we both agree that the singing waiters during our wedding breakfast was the highlight. They came out after the mains and performed right up until the evening guests arrived (we were actually late to greet our guests because we were all having so much fun dancing and singing).
