Giulia Mio
Having studied set and costume design in Venice and in Milan, and learned millinery for fashion and theatre between Rome, Milan and Zurich, Giulia founded her company “Giulia Mio Millinery” in 2015. Since then she has been awarded several national and international millinery awards. Her experience in fine arts and theatre have also had a significant influence on her creative process, with her love for the unexpected and uncanny.
“I trained as a traditional milliner but have always been interested in new techniques and innovative materials. The combination of these elements allows me to free my inspiration from conventions, ranging from classic and timeless hats to crazy and full of detail artistic pieces.”
Giulia moved to Leicester in October 2015, and established her studio at the prestigious Makers’ Yard, at the centre of the Cultural Quarter in Leicester City centre. Her bridal hats and accessories are sculptural and delicate, designed to flatter the face and proportioned to the person and whole outfit. She sources the best materials available in the UK and Europe to present her clients with a wide selection to choose from without compromising on quality.
